What is the difference between a Pod Dorm and (mixed) Dorm?
Pod beds are bunk beds with individual curtains!
→ In our St Christopher's hostels in the EU, all beds are pod beds by default unless stated differently in the room description.
→ Flying Pig dorm rooms usually do not have curtains.
→ In the UK, we have a mix of pod beds and bunk beds without curtains, consequently, only rooms called Pod dorms will have individual bed curtains.
Good to know!
→ A dorm room, short for dormitory room, is a shared living space typical to hostels. It is designed to house multiple individuals, each having their own bed and often sharing amenities such as bathrooms and common areas. Dorm rooms are a great choice for travellers seeking budget-friendly accommodation and open to meeting new people!
→ A private room refers to an individual living space within a residence or accommodation that is not shared with others. Unlike dorms, a private room is designed for exclusive use by one person or a group, providing a more secluded and personalised environment. A private room often includes amenities like a private bathroom (ensuite).
→ dorm beds usually come with a power socket and a reading light
PS we sell adaptors (and a bunch of other useful items at reception!)
→ dorm beds sleep 1 guest, except for specific dorms where there is double mattress in the room name (currently only available in Flying Pigs)
→ ensuite bathrooms might be located outside the room/dorm itself, but they are private to one specific room/dorm
